Baby Pashmina

Addie is a big "spitter-upper" & drowler, so we put these little burp clothes under her chin and wrap them around her shoulders. We call them her baby pashminas, since they remind us of those kind of wraps.

Bumbo Seat, what??

This is Addie trying out her Bumbo Seat, http://www.bumboseat.com/. It a foam seat that helps young infants sit up, while strengthing muscles. She also has being grabbing onto toys and honlding them on her own.

Bath time

Here is Addie at bath time. She's a bit unsure about the water for about the first 30 seconds and then after that she relaxes and really enjoys it. I can't wait for her to play with toys and such during bath time.

Happy Father's Day

Note Addie's shirt. She wore that today as a surprise to Robert. It was really cute. Robert really lucked out for Father's Day. He got a brand new grill. It really nice and we were in need of one. He also got a couple of shirts and a book.

2 Months Old

We were going to a pool party/BBQ for our friend Anthony's birthday. So I had Addie wear her hat, so she didn't get burned. We sat in the shade until it got too hot. She was a sweaty mess by the time we got home.

On Friday, she had her 2 month check up. She is doing great. She weighed 11lbs 6 oz. and was 23 inches long. She also had to get 4 shots. Addie and I cried and poor Robert had to pick up the pieces :) It was so sad, I told Robert he will always have to go with us. Its way TOO much for me to handle.

Lastest Family Photo

Here is Our Family!! This picture was taken outside after Mass. This picture was taken today.

7 Weeks Old

Robert and I had our first outing without Addie last night. We went to a dinner birthday party for our good friend Deb. Ron (bestman in our wedding) and his wife Teresa watched Addie. She did a great job. They said she is welcomed back anytime. They have a 3 year old daughter, Veronica. She was a big help to her Mommy, but wasn't so sure about sharing her Mommy's lap with another baby;)
I was a bit weepy when we left her, but after a glass of sangria, I was all better :) We were gone for about 3 hours, and that was enough for our first time away from her.

Birthing Class Reunion

Here is group shot form our birth class that we attending in January. Nathan (in carseat on chair) is almost three months old. Addie is next at 7 weeks old. And Alex (in the blue stripe outfit) is 5 weeks old. Our good friends are Jenn and Ben who are Alex's Mom and Dad. Stephanie, the blonde lady at the bottom was out doula. Jenny, the brunette is a maternity chiropractor, who observed our class.

Mother's Day & 1 Month Old

Ms. Addison is ready for Mass and Mother's Day. Robert and Addison got me a beautiful diamond cross necklace and earrings. And the most lovely hand written note from each of them. Who knew Addie could write ;) I was hoping to taking a picture of the two of us. But Addie had other plans, since she spit up on her dress as soon as we got home :(

I'm 3 weeks old already.... Can you believe it??

Here is Miss Addie 21 days old. Robert and I took her to the school where I used to teach, so that the kids could see her. The school was holding their annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, so it was a lot of fun with great food. It was a bit windy but the girl did really well. I of course forgot to take any pictures but here is one from this morning.

The update at the Drs was great! She now weighs 9lbs and 4oz. She is 21 inches long. Dr. Martin said she is great and he sees no problems. She goes back in 6 wks for her first round of shots and another wellness check.

Home at Last

Here we are finally home.....

Going Home

Here we are getting ready to leave the hospital. My really good friend Pam, gave us Addison's going home outfit. She looked so cute in it :) Thanks Pam

5 Minutes Old

Here she is about 5 minutes old. She was being weighed and measured.

The Big Arrival

Here she is being pulled out of my belly. Notice the deep crease in her forhead, from being stuck at my pelvic bone.

Finally... Addison Rose Arrives

Well, she is here! She took her sweet time, but had a bit of trouble getting out. Here are the important details.

I started with some hard contractions Thursday night about 10:00pm At about 1:00am Friday morning it was on. We labored at home by ourselves until about five am then we called in out Doula's to assist. We headed to the Hospital at 3:00pm on Friday. I labored for a few more hours and started pushing at about 7:00pm. After about three hours it was looking like the baby was crooked in there and wasn't coming down correctly. So Robert and I talked and after at this point 23-1/2 hours of UNMEDICATED labor we decided to have the C-Section.

So at 10:56pm on Friday April 13th Addison Rose Smith joined us as 8lbs 15oz 20" long bundle of joy!

40 weeks 1 day and counting...

Well, here we are at 40 weeks and 1 day and I'm still pregnant. We had a Dr. apt today and no progress was made over the last week. She is still high and my cervix is still at 1cm. We have the next Dr. apt on Thursday. Dr. Busch said he will call for an induction on that day, if there is no progress. Hopefully, Little Miss will make up her mind to come out on her own in the next few days. Cross your fingers :)

Other than that I'm feeling fine and the baby is doing well.

Thanks for all of the well wishes!

Here I am really pregnant, if there are different levels of pregnancy :)

A bit of progress.. Is better than none

Well, Robert and I went to see Dr. Busch. I'm 1cm dialated and my cervix is beginning to soften. She also has dropped a bit. These are all REALLY REALLY good things. So we are right on schedule. Robert and I are going to finish packing our bags for the hospital and also get the carseat in the car. After that we are pretty much ready to go.

My last day teaching for this year is on Friday, I'm so excited!! The swelling and general uncomfortable feeling I have has made it a bit difficult to be a good teacher. My substitute, who will finish the year for me, is shadowing me this week. So, I'm hoping the transistion will be
OK.

Also, Mom will be here starting March 30th. We're getting down to the wire. I can't believe she is almost here. We can't wait :)

Kankles Anyone...

Well, as you can see my ankles have become KANKLES!!! I'm down to one pair of shoes that I can wear. Flip Flops are it for the remainder of the pregnancy. I had to buy a new pair of Crocs (knockoffs from Target) in a bigger size, to accomodate the swelling.
My doula, Stephanie, gave me some ideas to get rid of the swelling, well at least manage it. So I have been taking baths in Epson Salt for an hour and half every night and some days, I take two a day. It has been helping.
I went and saw Dr. Busch, on Thursday, and I gained 6 lbs. in one week. He said maybe the baby gain a 1/2-1 lb. and the rest is water weight. Also, the baby is head down but hasn't dropped yet. There ihas been no dialation or softening of the cervix. So I guess we will see if there is any progress tomorrow. We go see the Dr. again on Monday.
Hopefully, Little Miss will make an appearance sometime soon!!

Patio Furniture

Robert and I went to Ikea looking for storage solutions and found this great patio set, for under $150. Which is why we LOVE Ikea :)

Ohhh Girl, Am I ready to be done

So with 2 weeks left until my due date, I'm really ready to be done. Here is a picture of me from last week at my good friend Jenn's baby shower. She is due a week after me.

New House - Like we need to take on one more thing :)

As you can see it a brand new pad! It should be complete in the next few days. We are to get keys on the 13th of February!! We're so excited and look forward to having alittle more space. Mom and Dad J are coming to help us hang ceiling fans and move in. We will be moving the weekend of February 23, so if you have nothing to do..... :)

We will miss living in our old house with a giant backyard. But sure can't wait to have our weekends free of yardwork and home repairs.

Dr. Apt now every 2 weeks

Well, now that I am almost 32 weeks prego, its time for Dr. apt every 2 weeks. I have gained a total of 22 lbs, I think. I passed my glucose test, which is a relief. My iron levels were a bit low, but nothing to be too concerned about. So I have 2 months to go until my due date and 7 weeks until I'm done working for this school year.

January Apt & Birthing Classes

Everything is going great! The baby is moving all of the time. The Doctor said everything is going going great. We also went to two weekends of childbirth class. We learned so much! Our instructor was great and our friends Ben and Jenn were in our class which made it fun. This class was taught by a doula, she will be helping me with the birth of our daughter. She is a coach, for both Robert and I. She will show us how to deal with birth in a natural & positive way.
